How it works

How does Pushgard count push-ups?

The front camera runs a pose model on the phone and reads 33 body points. A push-up counts when two independent signals agree: your arms fold, so your hands come closer to your shoulders, and your shoulders look wider as you come closer to the camera, then both return to the top position measured at the start of the set. One signal alone, like nodding at the camera, does not count.

Do I need a smartwatch, a band or any hardware?

No. The phone camera is the only sensor. Lean the phone against a wall or a bottle, step back and start the set.

Which exercises does the app count?

Four: push-ups, squats, crunches and plank. Push-ups and squats are counted in reps from the front; crunches and plank are read from the side, and the plank is timed in seconds.

Can I rest in the middle of a set?

Yes. Stop at the top and carry on when you are ready. In the tower the first 25 seconds of rest are free; after that the monster hits your hero every 7 seconds until you move again. Damage you leave on a monster heals slowly, over about a day, so half today and the rest tomorrow works.

Does it work in a dark room?

The pose model needs to see your body, so it wants ordinary room light. A lamp behind the phone, lighting you, works better than a lamp behind you.

The game

What happens with the reps I do?

Every counted rep is a hit on the monster in front of you. Beat it and your hero moves one step up the tower; every block of eight steps ends with a boss. Reps also count toward your week plan, your place in the weekly league and the rewards of the week and the season.

Is the whole game free?

Yes. The four exercises, the Barbarian, the whole tower, chests, gear, the weekly league, fair duels, the tournament and the app lock are free, and there are no ads. Premium is one optional subscription, $7.99 a month or $29.99 a year. The store shows the price for your country.

What does Premium add?

The Mage and the Archer, a health potion and a damage potion every Monday, a premium chest next to the regular one in the tower, two chest results to choose from, extra legendary chests and diamond keys on the season path, a streak shield, hero duels with no weekly limit, and your own minute rate and No retreat for the app lock. Nothing in Premium makes reps count differently.

Can I play with a friend?

Yes. Call a friend to a duel from the Arena. Fair duels, decided by reps alone, have no limit. Hero duels, where class and gear count, are three calls a week without Premium.

Do monsters come back after I beat them?

No. A cleared step stays cleared. The tower is a climb, not a treadmill.

Arena

How does the weekly league work?

You share a room with players of your tier, from Wood to Obsidian. Your points are the share of your week plan you have done. When the week closes on Monday at 12:00 UTC, the top half of the active players moves a rung up, the bottom third moves down, and zero points drops you a rung.

How does the tournament work?

Sign up on Monday for an exercise. The bracket draws at eight players, or from Tuesday with four. Each round lasts 48 hours and a match is one set against one. The champion gets a frame for the week, crystals and a legendary chest.

Screen time

What is the app lock?

You choose the apps that eat your evening and keep them locked. Reps earn minutes, and minutes open those apps for a while. It works on iPhone and Android, and the game only learns how many apps you locked, not which ones.

How many minutes does a rep earn?

One minute per rep at the start. The rate grows by a tenth of a minute every five hero levels, up to two minutes per rep. Minutes you don’t use burn at midnight.

Privacy

Is the camera video uploaded anywhere?

No. Pose detection runs on the phone. Frames are read and dropped; no video or photo is stored or sent to us or to anyone else. What the app does send after a set is the 33 body points the counter worked from: a moving stick figure, no image. We keep those for 30 days to fix counting mistakes, then they are deleted.

What does the server store?

Your profile, your sets, your duels and, for 30 days, the body points of each set. A set is an exercise, a number of reps and a day. Leagues, ranks and duels are built from that. Which apps you lock stays on the phone; the server only knows whether the feature is on.

Do I need an account?

No. You can start without one. Sign in with Apple or Google later, when you want the arena and a save that follows you to a new phone.

How do I delete my data?

Settings, then Delete account. Profile, sets and duel history are removed. Anything stored only on the phone goes away when you uninstall the app.

Devices

Which phones are supported?

iPhone and Android phones with a front camera. The pose model runs on the device, so a phone from the last few years keeps the count smooth; older phones may drop frames.

Does it work offline?

Counting and the tower work without a connection. Leagues, duels and syncing your save need the internet.
